Take That Boardgames Privacy Policy

Privacy?In 2026? HAHAHAHA

It’s cute that you believe you still have privacy. While TakeThatBoardGames is always careful to keep everything private… we don’t even let our spouses read our emails, the notion that you have any level of privacy left in 2026 is simply false. Google the term “data breach” and you’ll see your credit, your life history and more has already been leaked by a huge number of sources from department store online retailers to credit bureaus themselves.

Add in the fact that so many chatty-cathys can’t stop spewing every personal fact about themselves on social media sites, and the insane amount of effort many have gone through to put their entire ancestry into a publicly searchable database. Don’t even get us started on the geniuses who decided to give their genetic information to a company owned by the spouse of a founder of one of the world’s largest search engines. It’s like people can’t wait to climb over each other to destroy their own privacy.

So, you think you are one of the smart ones who kept yourself private? Here’s some food for thought while you live in your cabin in the woods disconnected from the digital world. After your cousin and your other cousin and your step-sister and your aunt have finished posting all their ancestry data and genetic data how hard do you think it is for computational detectives to piece together your data by association? When they post about “my brother Larry”, “my nephew Larry” and “My son Larry” often enough… how long do you think it takes others to figure out who LARRY is ?!

Justice Brandeis astutely ruled in a Supreme Court case that privacy is a guaranteed right of all Americans because, while it is never mentioned directly in The US Constitution or Bill of Rights, he found that it exists in the “penumbra” of what that text says.

No, not the smoke. The Penumbra is the glow around the flame. Smoke is something else entirely.
No, not the smoke. The Penumbra is the glow of the flame.

The penumbra is the glow from a candle that encompasses the flame, in case you haven’t been to yankee candle recently. Now in 2026, it seems we don’t have many of the protections that are specifically stated in the Constitution… and yet you want to hang on to stuff Brandeis said was loitering in the penumbra without being part of the text?

Take That Board Games doesn’t collect ANY of your data other than if you bought our game or where to ship it. We don’t sell your data to anyone. We may contact you to see if you are happy with our games or to see if you want new games from us. If you are anti-social just unsubscribe and you’ll never hear from us again. Fine be that way….

On the other hand…. how nervous do we need to be about you abusing OUR privacy? Are you the kind of person who sends inane emails at all hours of the day and night asking questions like “when can I get my hands on a brand new copy of Honor Among Thieves and can I have your genetic information?!”

If so, aren’t we the ones here who should actually be trying to enforce the power of the penumbra against you?

Just visit us on Discord and you can talk to us in real time. That’s how sure we are that we have nothing to hide (except our ancestry and genetic data… FFS stop asking us for our genetic data in chat. It’s getting really weird of you).
